If you’re new to my blog, then hey so am I! We have something in common already.
In November 2016 I moved from New Mexico to Maryland for my husband’s job. His name is Andy. He’s the best. I knew almost nobody and it was cold outside and I needed an indoor hobby BAD. I couldn’t meet up with people because I didn’t know anyone. I couldn’t go out and sight see the new city so close to Washington D.C. because it was freezing (okay I think anything below 70 degrees is cold). So what did I do? I developed an unhealthy habit of scrolling Instagram multiple times a day. What a boring life am I right?
Eventually, I noticed that the things I kept seeing on social media that made me feel excited was food. Yep. I think we all can relate that food is pretty exciting. But why was it different for me? Why did I feel compelled to post pictures of the stuff I was making and why did it give me so much joy? This feeling was new to me because it was the first time I felt passionate about something that I can do that’s unique to me. I’ve loved cooking and nutrition for many years now so it made sense. Things felt great.
The issue was that I didn’t know where this was all headed. So I did nothing about it and kept posting pictures on Instagram and then 6 months later I had family telling me I should write a blog, I had friends telling me I should write a blog, I had people I’ve never met in person tell me I should write a blog, and I had companies interested in my recipes because I was using their products. So it was time. I needed more from this journey and a bigger outlet than just a picture with a caption. This is a very unknown territory for me and I am afraid of failure. Albert Einstein said that “A ship is always safe at the shore – but that is not what it is built for.” I read that this very morning.
Thank you for reading.
